Does anyone know the speed of Fizz LTE vs Koodo LTE (which is throttled 5G)?
Is Fizz also throttled 5G?

    Hi @bjlockie
    As noted by @suresh0704 Fizz uses LTE, not 5G
    5G is not necessarily better than LTE. A lot depends on the frequency used. (Lower slower frequency in rural areas that travels further or high faster frequencies in urban areas, but more users). Customers experience on speed is really about a provider’s ability to manage customer load, frequency bandwidth, and coverage. For example. You can have the best 5G tech with the best frequency and the the user experience will decline when there is a surge of use, like during an emergency or a large sporting event.
    Unless you are downloading large amounts of data to your mobile, you won’t notice any difference, most of the time. Video streaming apps only require @25 Mbps where as max for LTE is 300.
    Where 5G shines is in latency, which is important in the first load of an app, like social media. The app refreshes faster, but after that it doesn’t matter.
    Fizz FAQ on the topic is here. The fine print does not mention any throttling, only a max speed of 300 Mbps on their LTE network.

    Cheers,
    Brad

    No, Fizz is LTE.

    @BradDoell thank you.
    @bjlockie It depends on where you located rather than LTE or 5G. I live in an area where my speeds are more than 100mbps and maybe far better than 5G speeds of other networks in my area.

    No 5G but fast 4G VOLTE.

    No 5g and the speed depend of your area. Give a try to Fizz.

    Doing a fair and objective comparison of data speeds on different mobile networks is not trivial. speedtests being cited are always subject to network load at a given location and a specific point in time and are thus not representative of a "network's speed" in general. In order to do a fair comparison, you'd have to drive around the country for at least a few days and test at different locations and times of day.

    Previous posts are correct in that Fizz does not currently offer access to any 5G networks like the competitors do. Not even at throttled speeds. However, Fizz does currently offer LTE access to four different networks, Vidéotron/Freedom, Bell, Telus and Rogers. Something you can't do with Koodoo. So, if data on one network is slow or not working, you can easily move on to the next. Not to mention the obvious advantages this has when it comes to coverage.

    So, in the end, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, and, in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't make much of a difference when it comes to practical applications.

    It's forbidden to discuss provider other than Fizz
