Buying phone elsewhere to use on Fizz network

I have grown dissatisfied with the phone I bought from Fizz (good phone, but I need more performance). I found a good deal on a more powerful, network-compatible phone online. Can I just buy it and switch out the SIM card to the new phone? What do I need to keep in mind?

For physical SIM, you're free to change the phone as long as it is network-compatible.

You insert the entire SIM card into your new device and everything will work.

Your new device must be compatible with the Fizz network

You do not have to purchase a phone from Fizz, I bought mine elsewhere and it works perfectly. It's been 5 years.

The new device purchased must be intended for the North American market, otherwise there may be compatibility issues.

    Hello @PhilOntario ,

As some other users have mentioned, you are not required to purchase a phone from Fizz. However, when making a purchase, please ensure that your phone is VoLTE compatible. You can check the models we have certified here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices
If you bring your own phone, and that phone is not on our list of VoLTE-certified phones with Fizz, that phone could still have the VoLTE feature and be able to place calls on the LTE network. However, we cannot guarantee the proper functioning of that VoLTE service on our network.

Additionally, with the 3G network being withdrawn, it's important to verify that the phone you plan to purchase will be manufactured in Canada or North America and is compatible for use in the countries mentioned. You can find more information about this here:https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-volte-important

If you have any doubts regarding the phone purchase, model, or certification, please feel free to contact our agents via live chat using this link: https://fizz.ca/en/support

    Have a good one,
