    I still don't understand how this works. Sometimes people say they need to be certified by Fizz, while with Oneplus an official update on their side was enough to make them work even if not certified.

    Fizz certifying just guarantees it will work. To get it certified, the OEM and Fizz work together to make sure the phone will have the correct frequency and configuration for volte. for phones that support the frequency used by fizz, theoretically even if it's not certified, it has the potential to get volte if the configurations match Fizz's. the oneplus update likely updated the software configuration to match Fizz's even though the phone is not certified by Fizz itself.

    I think the part I miss is why all this matching is needed in the first place. Anyway, thank you for the explanation
