I have note 10+ and is volte capable with other providers sim card. when I insert fizz sim with red bolt it removes volte option. It's not hard your forcing people to switch capable phones by not adding it on your end. I paid alot of money for these phones so I will and I'm sure there's alot of people I know will just switch providers. I will be filing complaint because it's is like extortion. It's not complicated I havr phones older like Samsung s7 working on volte It's up to the providers to activate it on your end. Don't be foolish and loose customers to go elsewhere because u forcing volte.

    Hi @flip_ep

You need to check constantly the list of certified phone https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices

The Note 10+ it is supposed to stop receiving the updates from samsung this year and the S7 I believe was 2022

Therefore I will find difficult, but with Fizz we don't know really only checking the previous link you can follow the list of certified phones

I believe Fizz should reply to these discussions and explain to the people what will happen.

    Good morning @flip_ep

Sorry this is happening to you.

Here the is technical explanation from Fizz:

    From the FAQ:  https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices#3

“Now, the question on everyone’s lips, why are certain phones VoLTE certified for some Canadian operators, but not for others?

A mobile phone’s VoLTE certification is the result of a technical and commercial agreement between the manufacturer and the operator. Because each operator sets its own requirements and certifications, a given phone may be compatible with VoLTE for one operator, but not for another.

Here are the reasons why compatibility may differ between operators:

    • Separate certifications: Each operator must certify the compatibility of a given phone with its own VoLTE network. If an operator has actively participated in this process and requested that the phone be compatible with its VoLTE configuration, the phone will be able to use VoLTE on that operator’s network.
    • Various VoLTE configurations: Operators may use slightly different technical configurations for their VoLTE service. A phone that is certified with one operator may not be compatible with another operator’s configuration.
    • Launch date: If an operator launches their VoLTE service and certifies a particular phone, that phone may not be compatible with another operator’s VoLTE if that operator has not yet launched their service or has not yet included that phone in their certification process.
    • Certification cycle: The certification process of a phone can continue for a few months following its commercial launch. If a device is declared non-compatible with an operator’s VoLTE configuration, it is rare for the manufacturer to modify the phone afterwards to make it compatible.

Note: If you bring your own phone, and that phone is not on our list of VoLTE-compatible phones, it could still have the VoLTE feature and be able to place calls on the LTE network. Fizz will not, under any circumstances, block or prevent the operation of VoLTE on a phone that hasn’t been certified by the company. If the phone is compatible with the Fizz VoLTE configuration, it will be able to make VoLTE calls. However, we cannot guarantee the proper functioning of that VoLTE service on our network.”

    Cheers,

    Brad

My understanding is it's not a Fizz only decision:

"Now, the question on everyone’s lips, why are certain phones VoLTE certified for some Canadian operators, but not for others?

A mobile phone’s VoLTE certification is the result of a technical and commercial agreement between the manufacturer and the operator. Because each operator sets its own requirements and certifications, a given phone may be compatible with VoLTE for one operator, but not for another."

Updates has nothing to do with phone come factory able volte its up to the provider to just enabled it but instead the want people to buy newer phones. I would switch provider before this happens. My note 10+ is more than capable. even my s7 work on volte with other provider..this is just nonsense. Don't buy a new phone on the list find a provider that doesn't force you when they can easily turn it on on all volte capable phones

whats the update have to do with enabling volte on your end by adding it on your end. software updates doesn't affect volte? when it's factory capable this looking more like a ploy to get people to buy a newer phone In my opinion
