I have a OnePlus 13

just bought it in January

it 100% supports volte which works fine with my Telus work sim

but fizz refuses to operate as VOLTE

this phone is brand new and was 1300$

i cant be expected to just replace this brand new phone by 3g shutdown

just because fizz is artificially not allowing it

this is not "it wont work" its "we don't feel like allowing it"

what do we do to fix this?

    Hi @Patrick C. #14966

    From the FAQ:  https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices#3

“Now, the question on everyone’s lips, why are certain phones VoLTE certified for some Canadian operators, but not for others?

A mobile phone’s VoLTE certification is the result of a technical and commercial agreement between the manufacturer and the operator. Because each operator sets its own requirements and certifications, a given phone may be compatible with VoLTE for one operator, but not for another.

Here are the reasons why compatibility may differ between operators:

    • Separate certifications: Each operator must certify the compatibility of a given phone with its own VoLTE network. If an operator has actively participated in this process and requested that the phone be compatible with its VoLTE configuration, the phone will be able to use VoLTE on that operator’s network.
    • Various VoLTE configurations: Operators may use slightly different technical configurations for their VoLTE service. A phone that is certified with one operator may not be compatible with another operator’s configuration.
    • Launch date: If an operator launches their VoLTE service and certifies a particular phone, that phone may not be compatible with another operator’s VoLTE if that operator has not yet launched their service or has not yet included that phone in their certification process.
    • Certification cycle: The certification process of a phone can continue for a few months following its commercial launch. If a device is declared non-compatible with an operator’s VoLTE configuration, it is rare for the manufacturer to modify the phone afterwards to make it compatible.

Note: If you bring your own phone, and that phone is not on our list of VoLTE-compatible phones, it could still have the VoLTE feature and be able to place calls on the LTE network. Fizz will not, under any circumstances, block or prevent the operation of VoLTE on a phone that hasn’t been certified by the company. If the phone is compatible with the Fizz VoLTE configuration, it will be able to make VoLTE calls. However, we cannot guarantee the proper functioning of that VoLTE service on our network.”

    Cheers,

    Brad

    you're right.

There are a lot of models not supported officially by Fizz at the moment, I'm waiting to see if that changes before the deadline on July 31st.

If not, I'll probably switch providers reluctantly.

Also- the fact that a model is not officially supported might not strictly mean it won't still work.

Try dialling #TEST (#8378) to see if it will work

OMG are they seriously going to give up a bunch of clients

simply because they refuse to add phones to a list

FFS the phone works with VOLTE, why are they blocking it

    there should be no list

it either just works or it doesnt

no its not passing because fizz is not allowing the phone to use VOLTE

    its a false fail

they are choosing to disalow certain phones it seems

Ugh I'm so sorry you have to go through that, my mom's phone is also failing the #TEST test, we might actually need to get a new phone for her 😥

fizz is refusing to recognize it because its (not in their list)

I cant believe they don't have a single OnePlus or Xiaomi phone on their "list" but have TCL

    this makes no sense

When it comes to Cell Phones

OnePlus and Xiaomi are Huge but TCL is "noname"

volte is not new if they won't enable it on every phone and force people to buy new phone goodluck. I and my family will just have to go elsewhere where. This is a fizz problem not customer. My s7 works on volte up to the providers to activate it on the simcard end.
