You need it only if you have activated PIN code entry on your SIM card and have either forgotten the PIN or entered it incorrectly three times. PUK is used to reset the PIN in these cases.

The puk is needed only when you look your SIM entering multiple time a wrong PIN is this your case?

1. Enter the PUK Code:
   • When prompted on your device, carefully enter the PUK code exactly as shown.
   • After entering the correct PUK code, you'll be prompted to set a new PIN for your SIM card.

Important: Entering the wrong PUK code multiple times can permanently disable your SIM card, requiring a replacement. If you're unsure or encounter issues, it's best to contact Fizz customer support for assistance.

SIM card pins are actually rarely used in North America, it is more of a "rest of the world" thing. With Fizz, PIN entry is disabled by default, you need to enable it on your phone if you want to use. It protects against unauthorized use of your SIM card in that whenever the SIM card is being powered up, you need to provide the PIN code first before you can use it, i.e. before the phone will register on any network. Apparently, Fizz's initial pin on all their SIM cards is 1234, but as I said, the feature is initialy disabled. This has further instructions on how to enable it if you want it.
