How to earn more points faster? How many points do I need to earn a badge to reduce my bill?

Participate in the community:

• 3 points for replying to a question
• 50 points for getting the first Best answer
• 50 points for each month that you are active

Alex seems to have covered things well, but I'll chip in some more ideas.

If you haven't already, you can add yourself as a friend to earn the 1st friend badge for 50 points.
If you have some extra data, the first time you gift you get the 50 point 1st gift badge, and both of those together get you 2/3 of the way to the 75 point Apprentice badge.
