ThermoWatch (iOS) / Nest / Ecobee. If you have a smart thermostat, these apps help you optimize heating schedules and save energy.

VPN app such as ProtonVPN or WindScribe.

Password manager app such as ProtonPass or KeePassDX.

And because I don't want Google collecting so much information about me, I try to use alternatives so:

    • K-9 mail or Mozilla Thunderbird app rather than the stock Gmail app
    • Microsoft OneDrive and Proton Drive instead of Google Drive and Photos
    • HERE WeGo map / gps navigation rather than Google's Map app.

Bitwarden - open source, secure, can be self hosted password manager

Caliber - gym and workout tracker

whering - personal digital closet organizer and helps you put outfits together and keeps track of the numbers of wears per piece

libby - free ebooks if you have certain library cards

IFTTT - automate tasks on phone and beyond, some can be useful, some gimmicky, can make your own

Todoist (IOS) - to do list i personally like

Notion - versatile productivity app but downside is that there is no offline version

Obsidian - my favorite notetaking app, it’s like having your own wiki for anything and everything you need in your life or would like to take notes on

Hoopla - more free books with library card

edx - free courses from top universities

forest - be incentivized to be productive and not use your phone while also planting trees

TooGoodToGo - cheaper alternatives to food by buying store or restaurant leftovers before they go to waste and expire. Can be a mixed bag depending on the store but usually all are bang for your buck at least
