A bit of advice for potential new user?

Hello. I am not a Fizz user yet, but was planning on moving my number here if I can resolve a couple questions (unfortunately cannot get anyone on chat). My needs are just a little bit different in my current situation.
My current use is very limited. Primarily text and phone via Whatsapp and I can connect to wifi. But I am travelling/staying between here (Ontario) and Europe. In Europe, I can connect to my local wifi for whatsapp but I need to be able to receive confirmation texts from gov't, banks etc. through regular text. That's really the only thing I need my phone for. No interaction, just receive the text. Can anyone offer advice on how reliable that is?
Second, my current phone is a dual sim Redmi 9AT MIUI version 12 that I purchased while in Europe. There are some mixed messages on the forum regarding this phone, in particular in the way I wish to use it. While I am considering purchasing a refurbished Motorola Moto 5G, in the short term I would need the Redmi.
I am currently with a different provider and things work fine, but I am kind of annoyed with them and Fizz seemed a good alternative but I do need reliability.
My question comes down to, is it worth transferring based on my requirements?

    Hi

Fizz offers international roaming services, allowing you to receive SMS messages for free all around the world

Is it worth the change? Check the price—the quality is definitely there.

However, the REMDI is not VoLTE certified with Fizz. As 3G will gradually be phased out sometime in 2025, the phone will not work for calls with Fizz unless it is certified. That said, since you plan to use WhatsApp for calls, this won't be an issue for you.

If you decide to switch remember to use a referral code in order to get 35$ at your second payment, you can use my code if you don't have one (is on my name after code)

Hi, the Redmi 9AT MIUI version 12 it's not support VOLTE by Fizz. Work 3G only (Voice) and end 3G average July.

For other, all work. Fizz have great network and partner.

It is forbidden to name any other supplier here.

Thank you all for the above information.
First of all, my apologies regarding mentioning another provider. I did so only for the purpose of providing relevant information for the tech savvy so that they may be better able to answer my questions - sort of like providing model# and OS on phone. I now know better and will not be making the same mistake again. :)
And honestly, I really should have waited for the service reps to get in touch with me, but there were lots of delays as a result of the holidays and I really wanted to make a decision before the 1st of Jan so figured your forum may be able to help. I simply needed to know if my phone would work in short term or if I should wait until I upgraded.

Having said all of that, I am happy to report that I am now officially with Fizz and absolutely thrilled.
I had to do some testing and there were some hiccups (Redmi is not really a typical phone so rarely on any 'acceptable' list) but everything works great, including data! And my hat off to the great customer service person who showed up on New Years Eve and helped me locate a SIM in Ontario close to me so that we can be certain that the phone will work in short term. Once I knew that, I immediately made the switch. Smooth sailing.
Data was more complicated bc of the phone configuration, but eventually I got that to work as well (even though that wasn't a big issue for me).
@elena code xzi4t: I wish I had seen your post in advance for your code, but this post took a while to appear as well. I guess the 'other provider' issue delayed things. So I wasn't able to use your code for activation. :( But thank you so much for the offer. I'm sorry I was not able to provide us both with a bit of benefit.

In any case, while I'm not thrilled that my first post instigated a warning, I will survive :D .
I hope I am able to be a useful member of the FIZZ community in the future.
And thank you both (@G225 code IRSGE and @elena code xzi4t) for pushing me regarding the realities of VoLTE. Rest assured I will be upgrading my phone sooner rather than later. But for now, I am just happy the current one works.
