If the Hitron CODA modem breaks can I order one off the Web and connect it up myself without going through Fizz?

    Hi @P C. #31

The short answer NO, the authentication is done using the mac address and Fizz will not allow the switch, only when they will send a new modem this will be connected to your plan.

Happy new year, and sorry for your problem

Hi, Hitron CODA modem identifies itself on the network using a combination of its MAC (Media Access Control) address and configuration information provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Here's how it works:

    1. MAC Address: Each modem has a unique MAC address, which is used to identify the device on the network.
    2. Modem Configuration: When you connect the modem, it sends a configuration request to your ISP. This request includes the modem's MAC address.
    3. Authentication: The ISP verifies the MAC address to ensure it matches an authorized device allowed to access the network.
    4. IP Address Assignment: Once the MAC address is authenticated, the ISP assigns an IP address to the modem, allowing it to connect to the network.

This process ensures that only authorized devices can access the network, thereby guaranteeing security and efficient network resource management.
