Can I prevent unknown numbers from leaving voice messages ?

I'vebeen receiving several calls from unknown/private numbers but no one will answer, it gets full my voicemail it is very annoying. I wonder if I can put some restrictions since it's from a private number...

    I doubt it.
Not sure about fizz specifically but in general there's very little control you have over voicemail, you can cancel it though and wait this technology to pass from the world- as it should.

Not much to do than stuck in your phone.

To block unwanted numbers, including unknown or private numbers, on your phone, follow these steps:

    On Android:

    1. Open the Phone app: From the home screen, tap the Phone app icon.
    2. Access settings: Tap the three vertical dots or the menu icon, then select "Settings".
    3. Call blocking: Look for the "Call blocking" or "Blocked numbers" option.
    4. Add a number: Tap "Add a number" and enter the number you want to block. You can also enable the option to block calls from unknown or private numbers.

    On iPhone:

    1. Open the Phone app: From the home screen, tap the Phone app icon.
    2. Access recent contacts: Tap the "Recents" tab at the bottom of the screen.
    3. Block the number: Find the number you want to block, tap the "i" icon next to the number, then scroll down and select "Block this Caller".
    4. Blocking settings: You can also go to "Settings" > "Phone" > "Call Blocking & Identification" to manage blocked numbers and enable blocking of unknown callers.

    Hi @Jorge L. #23152

You register on Canadas not call list. No guarantee this would help, but it can’t hurt.

I got a ton of spam calls when I first started with Fizz as well but it's usually temporary.

They call to see if you will pick up and are fishing for "active numbers".

I was tempted to add myself to the do not call list but that only tells scam callers that your number is active and you're more likely to get spam calls.

Forgot to mention that Android has a pretty good spam call blocking feature. Not sure if this is applicable to all android phones as I can only speak for Pixel phones.

It's a feature enabled by default

Seems like it's limited to the Google stock dialer so if you're using a phone from a company that replaces it you might be out of luck.

I blocked the number on my Android phone, and the phone will not ring if I receive a call from this number. But ... the caller is still able to leave a voice message! This doesn't make sense at all, as I just do not want to hear back from this marketing people anymore. As simple as this.

This is a very old thread and should be closed,
But the behavior you're describing does make sense as a result of how calls are handled by android and the service provider, blocking a call on android is essentially declining it (not answering) so the caller is then referred to your voice mail by your provider.

It'd be nice if a recording could say "your unknown number is not accepted".
I don't block my number because I want people to answer when I call.

You "might" be able to get this behaviour when turning off the call forward to voicemail when busy. It least in the pre-VoLTE days, declined calls would be reported back to the carrier as "busy". So, it depends, what Android does exactly when not signalling the call to you. Is it actively rejecting or is it just letting it silently "ring".

Try ##67# and check if that gets you the desired behaviour. Calls received while away from the phone, powered down or out-of-range would still be going to voicemail.
