How to Optimize My Fizz Internet Plan for Better Performance ??
Hi there,
I have been using Fizz Internet for a few months now and overall.., I am happy with the service. However;, I have noticed some fluctuations in speed during peak hours.., and I am wondering if there are any tips or tricks to optimize the performance of my plan.
Would upgrading to a higher speed plan help with peak-time slowdowns: ??
Are there specific settings in the Fizz modem that I can tweak for better Wi-Fi coverage: ??
Has anyone tried using a separate router with the Fizz modem? If so, did it make a noticeable difference: ??
I would love to hear your experiences or tips to get the most out of my Fizz Internet plan. Thanks in advance !!! 😊 I have also read this thread https://forum.fizz.ca/en/discussion/1888211/how-to-get-better-speed-with-fizz-internet-datasphere but still looking for some help.
Looking forward to your insights !!

Unfortunatly I dont think there's much to do about that since its due to the load on the network. Upgrading your internet speed would help but during peak hours you would still lose some speed. If its realy bad you could contact support. I had the same problem. I have a 100mbps plan but i was getting like 6mbps in peak hours. They ended up changing somthing outside that connect all the people on my road it fixed the problem.

To identify the bottleneck, I will try connecting my computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable to check the speed. If you get significantly better speeds compared to Wi-Fi, the issue lies with the Wi-Fi, and your focus should be on resolving that.
However, if the Ethernet connection shows similar speeds to the Wi-Fi, it could indicate a problem with your overall connection in the area.
Just to clarify, are we discussing download speeds or upload speeds? If it's upload speeds, keep in mind that Fizz may apply traffic management policies:

In my case, I feel Fizz's internet is keeping improving.

You should wait for Wi-Fi 7.

If you can, choose a direct wired connection to the router to avoid problems with WiFi.
