I just started a plan for my mother. When I got to the part where you type YES I sent Yes does that make any difference? As it's been about 20 min and the old provider is still active. I did reply again with YES but nothing changed. Am I just being a little impatient or did I mess things up?

It can take up to 2 hours if it doesnt work after that you can contact the customer support.
The last step for transfering a phone number from the fizz website:
After replying to the transfer authorization request, you may insert your Fizz SIM card into your phone. Keep an eye on your texts and emails. We’ll be in touch as soon as everything is ready.
