My technician recommended we install the router downstairs?
Wayyyy toooo often I'm sitting either in the next room or next to the router and have no service!!!
Why….I have no service at this very moment!!
To be fair, I'm currently with another provider and when I'm in the basement, I have little to no service here either???
That's why I was hoping Fizz could support us…
Does anyone else have this problem?

    Good morning @Jonik

For decades, I have used my own wireless routers as the ones provided by ISP’s are not nearly as good as the ones you can buy. I don’t have Fizz internet (not available where I live), but if you buy a good wireless router, you will have a better experience.

As @Mark123_2024 mentioned, you should, if possible, put the router in the center of the house. Wireless repeaters also help, but if you can, use an Ethernet cable between the router and the “booster”. This is known as a “wired backhaul” and gives the best performance.

There are many options on routers with many different features and capabilities. The newest ones will auto switch your devices from a longer distance slower speed to a shorter distance faster speed. Some will also give priority to video steaming, gaming etc and dedicate resources to that.

You should consider spending some time with a person who knows their routers, and go over your house configuration, what you use the internet for, where in your residence you use it etc, and then decide on a router (or two) from there.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Brad

    What is your setup?

Are you using the Fizz modem for routing or do you have your own seperate router?

You should position the router in the center of the house if possible, if still you don't have signal in certain areas you should add some wireless repeaters.

Personally, all my Smart TV, ipads, phones, printers are connected to Fizz Router. and i have an extra Wifi6 router for my work computer.
But Fizz Router is strong enough but if you have alot dificulties, i suggest you to have another router extension
