My phone is roaming

I'm currently not in Canada, and I've already turned off my Fizz SIM card. However, I suddenly received an email saying that my phone is roaming and asking me to fund my wallet.

I haven't added any money to my wallet, and it's currently at zero. Will I be charged any roaming costs even though I don't have any funds in my wallet?

Also, I'm wondering why it's indicating that I'm roaming, even though I've already turned off my SIM card. Shouldn't that have prevented any roaming activity?

My best guess is that turning off your SIM digitally via settings doesn't work the way you think it does.

I believe it stops the phone from being able to use the SIM for texting/calling/data but it's still able to ping out to check if you're in a service area or not.

The best way to resolve it is to physically remove the SIM card from the tray and keep it somewhere safe.

You will not be charged anything as Fizz is a pre-paid service and payment can only be made for services you paid for.

If you add funds to your wallet that is a different story, however you do not have funds there and it will not be an issue.

    Hi @emmawcm

    Are you in the US?

Probably you roamed before, and the problem that you cannot use more than 50% in roaming

Contact the support or put money in your wallet, if you don't roaming it will not be used

You can always contact the support, https://fizz.ca/en/support, and click on the green bubble on the bottom right of the page in order to chat with them to find the right solution for you.

How did you turn off the sim card? For me when I went on trips, I physically removed the sim card and it has no issues with telling me I'm roaming. For your other question, fizz is prepaid, if you have no money in the wallet, you just do not receive any additional service besides what is in your plan. that also means they cannot charge you extra if your wallet is empty.
