When travelling to the US, is it better to pay a month Canada/US coverage, or just get an Add On?

I will only be there for a long weekend, and will mostly use data.

It's worth it if while you're in an area that still has access to intro pricing. Do note that if you change coverage you will change your plan which means any grandfathered/intro pricing will disappear.

For such short trips you can get a "local" eSIM and get data only for much less.

If you know ahead of time (>1 month) it is better to switch to the CAN/US coverage. The cost is $4 for full use of your data vs $5 for 1 GB. Switching does have it's risks in that the price might change by the time you want to switch back to CAN only. Also, the switch will only take place on your next billing cycle so if the date you want to travel is within the current billing cycle then you won't be able to switch.
