The pay as you go option, available to Quebec customers only, will automatically deduct money from your wallet as you use it in the USA (unless you turn roaming off)
As for which is better, pay as you go or a data add on, that would depend on your expected usage.
Pay as you go would work out to 20.00 for one GB of data whereas you can buy an add on for 5.00 for one GB of data.
The best deal is to spend a few dollars on the Canada /USA plan. But this must be done several days before your billing cycle ends and then will work on the next billing cycle.

The money in the wallet is for pay as you go. As fizz is prepaid, if you don't have money in the account, you wont be able to do anything outside of your coverage. If there is money, it should be able to use that money for pay as you go prices. you should be able to find the rates for the us somewhere. for the addon, you'll have to check what your expected usage is. i believe addon is around $5 for 1 gb in the us. the cheapest option if you know when you plan to go is to switch your plan to can/us for $4 more a month. then you are able to use as much as you have in your plan when you are in the us. you can then switch back to can or quebec coverage plan once you come back

The rates are different for each zone, you can find instructions on where to find them here:
PAYG rates/Add-ons are bad value and switching your plan to CAN+USA coverage can ruin your intro/grandfathered pricing.
Since your stay is very short at 2 days, it's much cheaper to get an eSim from another provider. Some go as low as 1GB/7 days.

Hello,
Agree with jvh_ , shop around...
Also, incoming texts are always free, whether you’re within your coverage area or not, and whether you opted for unlimited texts or not. 💚
There is also Wi-Fi. Probably the next best thing since sliced bread. Connecting to Wi-Fi means you can use apps such as WhatsApp, Google Duo, Facetime and Messenger to make video calls. These apps use data and do not require voice coverage.
