To simply disable wifi on Fizz modem/router

I just wanted to disable the wifi on the Fizz modem/router because I only use/want the ethernet connection (no Fizz wifi). I DO NOT use another router. Most of the answers on the Hub refer to using a second router and advise to disable the Gateway function under Basic at 192.168.0.1

However, if you do that, be aware that 3 of the 4 Internet ports on the back of the Fizz modem will also be deactivated. This is not good if you have more than one device plugged in there (i.e., running two or more computers from the Fizz modem). Also, you will then be considered in "bridge mode" and can no longer access customer admin functions through 192.168.0.1. You will have to use 192.168.100.1 to re-set the modem and get out of bridge mode.

So the best solution to simply disable the Fizz modem/router wifi in this case is by logging into 192.168.0.1 / Wireless / Basic Settings / Wireless Enable, then choose "OFF". This will disable the Fizz modem/router wifi and still allow you do be able to access all your admin functions under 192.168.0.1 (e.g., to switch the wifi back on again when you want to). Plus, all the 4 Fizz modem ports will still work.

Would using this option still allow me to add my router running off the fizz modem/router? This would be useful as I have devices directly plugged in to fizz modem/router but also want to run my own wifi router at a different location in my home to help resolve the weak wifi signal , I already tried a booster but doesn’t work great, thanks

It would be better to have a Switch in this case otherwise it will make 2 networks. It depends on what you want to do.

Yes, it is possible to connect a router to the Fizz modem without disabling the integrated router, but this can lead to network issues like double NAT, which can complicate your network management. Here are some options to avoid these problems:

    1. Bridge Mode: Putting the Fizz modem in "Bridge" mode will disable the routing functions of the Fizz modem, allowing your personal router to handle all routing functions.
    2. Access Point Mode: Configure your personal router in "Access Point" mode and disable the Wi-Fi on the Fizz modem. This allows your router to manage Wi-Fi while using the Fizz modem for the Internet connection.
    3. DMZ: Configure your personal router in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) of the Fizz modem. This allows your router to receive all Internet traffic without interference from the Fizz modem.
