They included the new area only couples of weeks ago or so, this is the reason why is in beta to fix this kind of problem.
You should enable the roaming and use without problem, for sure they already sent the right information to apple to have their carrier setting modified

At this point in time the service is in beta, therefore, you can expect this kind of behaviour, enable the data roaming
For sure they will fix it in the following weeks
Fizz will not charge you

EXT does not incur extra charges. It just means you're on a partner network. Fizz say they reserve the right to interrupt access if they detect someone continuously on EXT for more than 3 months, but look at the wording: they're not saying they WILL do it automatically. Since in your case it's because the Alberta service is in beta, you should be fine anyway.

If your phone is showing "Fizz EXT" instead of just "Fizz" while you're in Calgary, it means that your phone is connected to a network outside of Fizz's primary coverage area. Fizz EXT indicates that you're using an extended network, which is quite common when you're in an area where Fizz's main network doesn't have coverage.
Here are a few points to understand this situation:
- Extended Network Coverage: Fizz has agreements with other network providers (like Freedom Mobile in your case) to allow their users to access service in areas where Fizz does not have its own network infrastructure. This service is typically labelled as 'EXT' to indicate it's an external or extended network.
- Impact on Service: While on Fizz EXT, you should still be able to make calls, send texts, and use data, though there might be some differences in speed or quality compared to the Fizz network.
- Roaming Charges: Generally, using the Fizz EXT network does not incur additional charges as long as you're within your plan's allowed usage and in the subscription area. However, it's always good to check your plan details to be sure.
- Network Selection: Sometimes, manually selecting the network on your phone can help. You can try going into your phone’s network settings and manually selecting 'Fizz' to see if it connects to the primary network. However, if you're in an area where Fizz's network isn't available, it will default back to EXT.
- Support Understanding: If the support team didn't understand your issue, it could be helpful to clarify that you're inquiring about why you're on an extended network and if this impacts your plan's usage terms.
- Frequency in Calgary: Being on Fizz EXT in Calgary might be common due to the coverage area of Fizz, which is primarily based in Quebec and the greater Ottawa area. When you travel outside these areas, your phone will often connect to partner networks, showing as Fizz EXT.

My point is that I feel the Carrier Settings Fizz 50.0 are incorrect and are treating 302 490 which is Freedom Mobile as a partner and not as a home network which 302 500 Videotron is. Hence the phone doesn’t understand what is Fizz and what is Fizz EXT. I know 100% I am connected to Fizz (freedom).0

For the moment Freedom is considered "technically" as Fizz Ext. Only Fizz network (Videotron) in Quebec is considered Fizz. Eventually they will include Freedom towers in their network inventory and it will show Fizz . It's just a question of time.
