How do I install a second router?

I recently moved to a 2 level apartment. My computer can only access Internet via Ethernet cable, but the room it's in has no Ethernet access. I was wondering if I should buy a 2nd router or receiver to receive the Wi-Fi signal from the main router; then connect my Ethernet cable to the receiver upstairs. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

You can try Powerline Ethernet adapters. How it works : you plug 1 adapter to electrical outlet closed to your router and connect it to existing router via ethernet, and plug the other adapter into your an electrical outlet on your 2 level closed to where you put your computer and connect your computer to the 2nd adapter with ethernet.

It may or may not work depending on how electricity is wired in your apartment.

You have to try to know if it works or not. You need to keep all boxes in case you have to return them if it would work.

The cost varies from 60$ to over 100$ depending on model / speeds/ options for both adapters (you need at least 2).

Very likely the speed will not be as fast as it advertise.

If you want speedy network then you could buy an Ethernet over Coax assuming that you have Coax outlet in the room where you put your computer . This is more expensive around 190 $ or more . Just do search for Ethernet over Coax and you'll find it.
