Port forwarding not working
I need to open various ports for my games on my pc but nothing seems to work!!!
I assign a static IP to my pc
Open ports on the router and Win11 Defender according to the instructions.
Diseable my anti-virus
Rebooth both the router and pc
And still "port closed" reported by the port forwarding tester
I don't know what to check next.
Any suggestions???
Thanks

When you said "Open ports on the router" do you meant that you forward to your windows machine?
The ports that you forwarded are greater than 1023?
Can create a screenshot of your configuration?

Are you on Windows? Try to disable Windows Firewall and test. If it works you need to tune your Windows Firewall.

I log to the router at 192.168.0.1 and add the port 27015 (TCP/UDP) to the port forwarding menu and the status on that page indicate ON.
I've tried diseabling the window firewall but it still doesn't work.
I'm using Win 11 by the way
Also in running "resmon" I don't see the port 27015 on the list of listening port
Since I'm not too familar with Win11, I don't know what to verify
I'll try to post a screenshot later

I don't know if that will help?

They seems ok,
You can also try to put configure the 192.168.0.15 in the DMZ
However, this must be used only for a test

you posted the open port in your windows, if the port is not opened on Windows, the problem is not the router
your windows should listen on that port, and only after you can test the port forward

you're right but I don't know how to correct that.
I even diseable completely window defender and it still not working.
So there should be another place to make changes but I don't know where
Any suggestions?

It seems that your software doesn’t listen on that ports
netstat -na
This must be run from the comand
therefore win-r type cmd
i don’t know if you need to run the cmd as admin
in this way you can see if there is an app which is listening
if you don’t find it, is a problem of your app

thanks for the command but the problem still remain.
When I run my app, I see it listening to port 27015 but nobody can connect
Also when I use this site : https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
it tell me that port 27015 is close.
I'm about to give up

Hi
Check this article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-server/configure-a-firewall-for-report-server-access?view=sql-server-ver16
You can also try to configure your DMZ with the IP of your windows machine
However, this will expose all your Windows ports to internet, and this is not good at all, therefore, if you try to this only for testing and for a short period of time

Thanks Jess in trying to help me out but I'm getting more and more confused.
So back to square one.
I'm trying to setup a Ark server for me and my friends. The server use port 7777,7778,27015.
1) On the router, I forwarded those ports to my pc
2) In windows defender I create a rule for the server, both UDP & TCP
3) I can connect to the server locally but my friends cannot
These are the only steps required, I think, but it's not working.
It's probably a obvious think that I don't see.
One last recommendation before I give up?

Sorry but I don't see it
1) you configured a Fix local IP to the windows machine where Ark server is installed
2) you configured the firewall in order to accept the incoming connections
3) you create the port forward -> the windows machine
In the router if you have any port trigger for the same ports try to delete them
Did you try to enable the DMZ?

As the last test
try to turn off the modem for a minute

I don't know what DMZ do, but I'll try
And no port trigger

with The DMZ all the ports are forwarded to that machine, you computer is exposed to internet
i don’t like it, but for a test it is ok

Are you sure that your public ip didn’t change during the tests . Double check this too typing what’s is my ip in Google
also double check the local up of your windows machine (in the cmd type ipconfig)
Sorry to ask to do this, but I really don’t have a clue any more, since you did everything

I've double check and local and public ip haven't change.
When DMZ is enable, shouldn't see the ports open when I check with the Open Check Port tool, because when I enable DMZ, the port are still reported closed?
The sad think is that I already had a server working when I was under Win 10
I upgrated to Win 11 a few months ago and now nothing work!!!

If everything was working previously with Fizz, the problem is on the firewall on Windows 11
It seems that you enable the firewall only for local IP https://pureinfotech.com/allow-apps-firewall-windows-11/ you should accept public ip

You're a genious 🤩
It seems to work. At least now I can see my server in the Ark server list.
Now I must test it with my friends tomorrow.
Thanks a lot for your patience
