SMS with emoji character count is reduced to 70
Original question
Thanks Whizz who opened super ticket but it is closed without explanation. Basically it just describe the problem again.
At the end I do my own research and found that SMS chat count is 160 normally, but if it contains Unicode such as emoji, it’s reduced to 70, hence my msg is sent as twice.

@catostrichpeaceful so it's because of the emojis?

Should be 80 chrs, since you are switching from utf-8 to utf-16 which is using 2 bytes for each character instead 1

Yes because last time I sent about 90~100 characters in a SMS. With only just one emoji, the limit becomes 70 and considered two SMS
