Pay As You Go or Minimum Plan for Travelling

I will be travelling for several months and would like to keep my phone number. If I switch to Pay as you Go and do not use the SIM card, will it just not bill any usage and keep the phone number, and I can switch back when I get back? Or is the only option a monthly package that I bill at the absolute minimum?

    Your only option is tolower your plan at the minimum, which is 12$ per month
