USA/Canada Calling

I have a US/Canada plan and I am currently in Arizona for the winter. My phone has roaming set and LTE selected. My selected provider is FIZZ and the display indicates T-Mobile as the local provider.

When I call any number I hear no Ringing but a US local call will be picked up. If they call me they are directed to my Quebec voicemail as my phone does not ring. If I call my wife's phone (also here with me in AZ) the call will eventually go to voicemail.

So, it appears that US calls can only be made to US numbers. In my case I am calling from my 613 code to my wife's 613 code which does not work.

Please hel.......p !

    @brightspark

    A Fizz subscriber familiar with US mobile networks suggests using the T-Mobile partner network, when possible, to make calls. There is a way to configure your phone to do this.

    It is my understanding that you cannot make phone calls nor send texts in the US at the moment because the networks are changing or have changed to VoLTE. Please see https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-volte-important (eso. Last paragraph unter point 5).

    You could try to change your preferred network to 3g and do a search for a 3g network which might still allow you to make a phone call. To communicate wit your wife, both of you could use WiFi or your dato to communicate via WhatApp, Messenger etc.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the pointers to possible solutions.

    I tried leaving my Network partner selection as <T-Mobile> then changed the Network type from LTE to 2G. I can now connect to my wife's 613 code phone from my own, also 613, calling from here in Arizona. Hopefully T-Mobile will leave 2G active for some time to come.

    I guess time will tell if all call scenario's work but this is a great help.

    Not sure if you can roaming "the whole winter" even having US-Canada plan.

    We reserve the right to interrupt or block access to our network of partner providers if you use your mobile service primarily on their networks for 3 consecutive payment periods.

    Good point. I guess we'll find out. When is a plan ever what it seems to be when we sign-up.
