Hello,

For some time, a new 5.0 Ghz Wifi (NETGEAR17) from the neighbor generates a lot of interference:

Its signal strength and bandwith completely saturates low frequencies wich forces the other modems to prefer high frequencies. This only moves the probems and causes slowdowns on the network regardless of the frequency...

The only one solution i see is to reduce my bandwith from 80 Mhz to 20 Mhz and forces the chanel 165 where i wiill be alone.

However, after making the switch, my fizz modem resets to 80 Mzh after few minutes/hours:

Do you have any idea why it does this? Or another solution to my problem?

Knowing that i can neither connect to ethernet nor change the place of my modem and the speed for 2.4 Ghz is to low... (~10 Mb/s) :(

Thanks!

Hi, what might help is disabling the band steering and renaming your bands 2.4 and 5 with 2 different names and 2 different passwords. This could surely help.

Here is the process for disabling the band steering:

Connect to address: 192.168.0.1 from a web browser. To enter the modem/router interface: Usernam = cusadmin Password = xxxxxxxx (password chosen during installation)

Then Wireless / General settings / 5GHz / Switching bands (Enabled) you must set to disabled. ATF in 2.4G and in 5G you must also set to disabled. Click "Save changes" and wait for the modem to reboot and reconnect to the network.

To further improve your situation, you can also check the less frequented channels and manually put 1 or 2 bands on the less frequented channels.

    • For your passwords, once inside the modem:
    • Select Wireless
    • Select General settings
    • In the lower right-hand corner, you’ll see your password.
    • You put a different name and password for each network on 2.4 and 5. And "safe".
