People can only text me to my icloud email address?

I just activated my new sim card and when I text people it shows up as my icloud email address is texting them. I was wondering how can I resolve this problem.

    Check your iMessage and FaceTime settings. Is your phone number selected to receive messages? If you get a pop-up saying something about a change related to your phone number and offering to remove your phone number, do it and then re-enable it.

    Sorry, I don't have exact messages and procedure, but I had to do something like this.
