My speed is stalling between 30-40 mbps. I have the router/modem placed in a closet because it's the only place for a connection. What can i do?

Have you tried restarting your modem to see the speed improves?

I think what swatt is trying to say is, try testing the internet speed by connecting your device to the modem via ethernet cable. This will give you an accurate reading of your internet speed.

You can't use your own modem, but you can use your own router or wifi booster to get a better wifi signal.

If there is no improvement, you can try resetting your Wi-Fi modem to its factory settings

IMPORTANT: This will reset any changes that have been made to your Wi-Fi modem settings to date. You may also need to reconfigure your devices’ Wi-Fi settings (network name, password, etc.).

Using a small, sharp object, press the modem’s reset button for 10 seconds.

Once your modem has restarted, follow the same instructions you used when you initially installed it.

Make sure your modem is kept upright and clear of any obstacles. It needs air for ventilation.
