Hello,

So i scheduled a self installation in tbe upcoming days for home internet.

I already have 2 other modems with different companies (we are a few people living in this home and they have their own connections). I need mine for working from home.

So when the technician will get here, i know that he will drop off the modem on my porch for me to install it.

Question : does he know if i will need a coaxial cable? Will he have to come in my house to drill holes for that cable? Do I have to pay something for that?

I contacted Fizz on facebook messenger, and all they said is : the technician will know what to do and has the proper tools for everything. That does not answer my question.

Could my brother install a coaxial cable a few days before the technician shows up to speed things up? Or is it pretty simple for the tech to just install a cable?

Thank you

    Hi Liza,

the technician will need to ensure that the facility is viable, so yes, he'll need to enter your home, and based on the nature of the work required, the technician may have to drill, for example, a hole in an exterior wall. If you are a building tenant, make sure you have the owner’s written authorization beforehand for such circumstances.

If the building owner is on site, his verbal agreement will suffice for the tech. If you have shared ownership of your property, it’d be important for you to be familiar with the rules of your association in regard to such matter.

This is work if necessary will be perfectly free of charge, just like the material provided by Fizz, since included with the subscription.

    Hi

The technician is responsible for the coaxial cable from the outside leading up to the modem entrance regardless of the type of installation you have chosen.

For both types of installation, the technician will verify the coaxial cable signal to ensure that your internet will work well. Please do not install any coaxial cable wiring yourself.

For the VIP installation which costs $60, the technician will do the additional step of unboxing your modem and plugging it in to ensure it is updated and working. Fizz has the do-it-yourself steps here - https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-install-my-wi-fi-modem

You can upgrade from self-installation to VIP installation on the day of your technician appointment — just let the technician know. In that case, the technician will inform you of any applicable incremental fees before working on anything, and upon your approval these fees will be automatically taken from your Fizz account. However, you cannot downgrade from VIP to self-installation.
