Voice Roaming in Egypt

Is there a voice roaming option for international travel to Egypt? i.e. Receive/make phone calls?

I can only see data and text, does this mean I won't be able to receive/make calls?

Unfortunately no.

There is no voice plans outside US/CAN while roaming outside that region. Only data / SMS.

But you could try alternates like:

• Local SIM card
• App calls like Whatsapp, signal, FB Messenger, etc

What about short trips, this means all my incoming calls will be missed or redirected to voicemail?

Incoming calls should reach your voicemail just like if your cellphone is turned off.

I do not know if for a short trip the following is worth it, but some clients rely on alternative voice over IP (VOIP) for long trips. Look for brand names like Fongo, TextNow, YouMail, Voip.ms,… in this forum or your favorite search engine.

I've never used one of them, so I won't go further. But you need to be comfortable with those technologies. I suggest you to read their fine prints if you adopt one of those solution.

Hello @Tarek, I suggest:

• go to the app store for your device (Android or ios) and search for apps for calling and texting. The better apps will have many good reviews. These apps need data so either your cellular data or WIFI connection. Look for apps that require few permissions and recent updates for best security. Some apps will offer encryption, this is not necessary but does offer more privacy and security.
• purchase a local pre-paid SIM, often far more cost effective and flexible than travel add-ons with Fizz.
