    Hi Rocky,

perform some speed tests using the Fizz Wi-Fi app. This app is available for free on Google Play Store & Apple Store.

Do multiple tests with different devices and at multiple locations around your home.

Compare the results obtained at the downstream (Download) and upstream (Download) speeds of your Fizz Home Internet plan.

If possible, also a speed test with a device plugged in using a network cable (RJ45) directly into the Wi-Fi modem.

You can also perform a speed test using any website or app of your choice.

Make sure you choose a speed test that uses a local server.

Some sites only offer test servers located overseas. It could skew your results.

SpeedTest Ookla. Il n’y a pas meilleur et plus utilisé. Même Videotron utilise Ookla pour les tests sur son site.

Il y a une app pour chaque type d’appareil où une page web. https://www.speedtest.net/

    Hello @Rocky

what is your criteria for "best way"?

A quick and easy tool is fast.com . Very simple page, starts right away, clean with no ad (aside Netflix, its owner, which hints you it should mostly work all the time worldwide).

A more complete tool is DSLReport. You can choose connection type, remote server location, it gives you rating, explains some stuff, etc. It keeps a history of your tests which can be put in a graph, on a long term.

SpeedTest is indeed popular. I never used it consistently.

But that brings me to other criterias : HOW are you doing your tests. Because you ask

what is yhe best way to check internet speed

...and many give you tools. Which in part is a very good response but insufficient IMHO as it only measures speed in an ad-hoc manner. You also need to (but not limited to):

    • remove other concurrent requests (devices, apps, ...), anything that can eat the bandwidth test.
    • test on Ethernet wire. Although wifi can be properly measured, it can fluctuate very much (for good reasons, but it's not consistent)
    • make sure nothing biases your results like a VPN, a throttling limit set in your OS/browser/app, plugins, a background software update, ... So upgrade everything beforehand, even firmware updates.
    • test with the same tool
    • test on multiple occasion. Doing a single test can lead to false conclusions, even in the same hour of the day.
    • have a way to compare your tests. Historical graph could be nice.
    • compare with your environment, neighborhood/city, other providers for the same building/area, etc
    • ...

And in the end, although not the best way, test also with the provider's app (the one @Dapfizzer described). If it gives similar results, that's the one THEY cannot refute 😉 So bring its results to them when chatting with customer service.
