Fizz mobile bad network coverage

I am testing out Fizz mobile for 15 days and have noticed poor network coverage. When at home I am able to get full 4G reception using a Xiaomi Mi 10T. Though when visiting friends in other Montreal neighborhoods and Laval (Vimont) the reception is terrible, down to 1 bar 4G reception or the phone switches to H+. I expected the service to automatically connect to other provider antenna instead of downgrading the connection speed and remaining connected to videotron antenna.

Network is on automatic

I have double checked my Fizz APN settings.

Data roaming is ON.

I tired manually connecting to the Fizz Ext 4G networks but get "cannot register" error.

Is this "normal" for the Fizz service ? If so, I'm sticking with Rogers.

Fizz is not the one dictating the fail over threshold when a mobile falls back on 3G or partner network, that is part of your phone OS and there is very little control over it unfortunately. For me, while at home, 4G is so low it's barely usable, but it doesn't fall back to 3G when it does; I just set my settings to favor 3G to get around that.
