does the fizz services work in British Columbia?
In some places, yes but only in a coverage capacity, i.e. the pink zone:
This is taken from the dynamic map at https://fizz.ca/en/coverage
The coverage area you choose for your mobile plan determines where you can use your service (on top of your subscription are where the majority of your usage must be done). Outside your coverage area, you’ll need to buy Add-ons or pay as you go
Which is different from the subscription area. If you live in this area (the green area in Quebec province as well as Ottawa), you can subscribe to Fizz mobile services. The majority of your usage must be done in your subscription area, not on partner networks (Fizz EXT), regardless of your coverage area.
More on the matter:
Note that you must reside in the subscription area (currently Quebec and the greater Ottawa area) to be able to subscribe to Fizz services.
If you are eligible as a mobile subscriber, you can use Fizz roaming partner services in places like British Columbia if you have Canada or Canada/USA plan coverage as long as the majority of your usage (calls, texts and data) must be done on the Fizz network (subscription area).
Fizz states: "We reserve the right to interrupt or block access to our network of partner providers Fizz EXT if you use your mobile service primarily on their networks for 3 consecutive payment cycles."
You should check the price of prepaid sim card there some time its cheaper.
