Netgear range extender cannot find my network

Hi everyone,

I am trying to set up a new netgear range extender and the setup genie is not finding my new network. I have tried resetting netgear to factory settings, unplugging the router, changing the router channel and moved netgear to various outlets. It’s bizarre because the extender recognizes other fizz networks in the building, just not mine!! If anyone has any ideas of how to troubleshoot I would really appreciate it.

Is the network from your main router up and running i.e. can you connect with your computer to the network of the router?

Just to better understand, have you configured your Fizz modem as a wifi+modem? And trying to extend Fizz' signal with a Netgear repeater device?

Is the SSID hidden in the Fizz wifi configurations? Perhaps making it visible while you install your repeater would be the solution.

    Thanks for your replies!

Yes the main router is up and running so all my devices are on it and working in the living room no problem.

Yes re my fizz modem being wifi+modem (I think?) - the idea was to get the range extender so that I can get the signal boosted in my office at the back of the apartment. The SSID shows properly on all my other devices and I can't find a setting in the Fizz app to hide it, I'm assuming that it is already visible... very weird that it won't find my network. If anyone has any ideas what to try next I'm all ears :)

    Thanks again guys!

You could try what @Idefizz has suggested and but in the SSID manually. Very weird indeed. I have (luckily) never encountered an issue that couldn't be solved with a simple on/off :P
