SMS doesn't work on no data plan without wifi

My son's plan doesn't include data but has unlimited SMS. However, SMS only works when connected to WIFI. Shouldn't the SMS work with the carrier regardless of data?

If your son has an iPhone, be sure to enable SMS messages on his phone settings.

Regular SMS texts do not need data or WiFi
On the other hand, MMS and iMessages will require data and/or WiFi.

What is the phone model your son have ? Sms should work without wifi or mobile data. Have a nice day

Fizzy say it right! Depend on the phone model! But apply it in the settings! Good luck!

Be sure he is not using iMessage, otherwise maybe the messages are not included in his plan.
