Sms vs MMS ?

Hey !
I would like to know the difference between SMS and MMS. Like if I'm not in wifi au data use, which one I need to use ? Or what is better in these two ? Which use less data (or no data at all ?)

    SMS = no data needed. You need text plan.

    MMS = needs data.

    SMS are texte message of max 160 chars
    MMS are SMS longer then 160 chars or multimedia message

    Therefore, to send SMS you need to pay (per use or have an addons) or have unlimited SMS In your plan

    For the MMS you need data in the phone, for apple product sending or receiving MMS to apple users you can use the WIFI
