I have a few lines but do not want to lose any existing numbers. A friend had problems and had to resort to taking a new number.

You need to make the portability using the IMEI
During the activation process, here’s how to keep your current phone number:
1- Click Transfer a number to Fizz.
2- Enter your phone number in the field that opens up below.
3- Use the drop-down to choose your previous provider.
4- Enter your previous provider’s account number or your phone’s IMEI# in the field below.
Find your account number on your bill.
Dial *#06# on your phone to get your 15-digit IMEI number.
Only the IMEI phone number used at your current provider will allow the transfer.
If the number is more than 15 digits long, enter only the first 15 digits.
5- Click Next, review your first monthly plan payment and click Submit.
6- A transfer authorization request will then be sent by text by your current provider to confirm your wish to transfer this number over to Fizz. This request must be answered by the set deadline.

Hi Jeff
Currently you can transfer your number from another provider only during the activation process.
If you wish to transfer your number from another provider, you'll have to activate a new plan.
More info is available here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/activation-how-do-i-transfer-my-current-phone-number-to-fizz
Once you have started a Fizz mobile plan, you are allowed to change your number only by selecting another new number.
To sign up for Fizz mobile, please follow the instructions here: https://fizz.ca/en/how-it-works
Once you have your SIM card, go here: https://fizz.ca/activation
You will need to have a valid credit card on hand: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-payment-methods-can-i-use
As mentioned, if you have several numbers on your Virgin mobile account, you can use your phone IMEI for the port transfer instead of Virgin account number. Also make that sure your number with Virgin is active and there is no port block protection set up on your Virgin account.6 -

Jeff,
For the transfert of your actual phone number with Fizz;
Get the account number of your actual provider and the IMEI of your phone number: types: *#06#
(a serial of 15 digits).2
