Yes you can add a wifi repeater

Personally I prefer to add a router, which it will give more flexibility, and I do not like repeaters

Any good AC router will improve your WiFi signal, specially if you place it in a good place in your Home, follow Mike's link for setup.
Personally i don't like WiFi repeaters or signal boosters, often they drop the signal...
