Hello, I received my Hitron 4680 about 2 weeks ago and I have problems with the wifi dropping.
The signal is perfect all over my house, but my wireless devices are losing Internet Access frequently even if the signal is good.
It happens mostly when the phones/tablets/roku/videogame consoles are waking up, they are connected to the wifi but cannot access internet.
Second problem: I have 2 other routers to share the ethernet connection in different rooms, those are in Bridge Mode with Wifi enabled. The plugged in computers are fine, rarely losing internet access but it happens. The wireless devices connected to those bridges are unable to get internet access.
This setup used to work with my previous 8 years old router, I only swapped the device with the new Hitron 4680 and now nothing seems to work right.
Can you help me please?
Thank you
Eric

Hi Eric
This is quite a setup you have. Let's try to keep it simple.
When the problem happens, how is it resolved? I mean do you have to restart the Fizz modem? If yes and you have to do this often, then it is not normal and you should contact Fizz support.
If not already done, one other thing you could try is to put the Fizz modem in bridge mode

@Fizzy Support suggested me to use the Bridge Mode on their Fizz Router.
The setup is not really complicated, the Fizz Router is in the mechanical room in the house with 2 ethernet cables going to both end. At each end there is another router in bridge mode, one connecting 2 computers, the other end connecting consoles and smarthome devices.
The wifi problem is usually resolved by rebooting my phone and waiting until the wifi gets internet access again. It takes between a few minutes to a few hours, I have not found any patterns to it.
Fizz doesn't seem to think their router is defective, internet is coming in my house at normal speed. All they did is reboot it and tell me to factory reset if it was not working.
I contacted Hitron and I hope they can offer some other advice.13 -
@Eric The problem seems to be mostly with wifi.
I see from your other post 2 weeks ago that you have disabled band steering.
My question is how many wifi signals are you broadcasting atm? And are they all using the same SSID? Can you try using only the 2.4Ghz band of the Fizz modem (and disable all others) to see if there is any change13 -
I bridge my modem and use two of my router to have better performance.10

I have 2.4G and 5G on the Fizz Router (Hitron 4680).
5G for the PC Router (Portalwifi).
2.4G on the living room router (TP-Link Archer C50 AC1200)
I took the time to check all channels with Wifi Analyzer for Android. None overlap.
All different SSID.
Used to have 8 different SSID in the house and did not have a problem for 2 years, until I switched to Fizz.
Attached a screenshot to show the portalwifi not giving internet access on wifi, but ethernet is fine.10 -
Can anyone guide me to set the Hitron as a BRIDGE instead of Router mode?
I tried disabling Residential Gateway Function and just wasted 45 minutes factory resetting it to get internet again... back to square one.10 -
@Eric
Fizz guide to put the modem in bridge mode can be found here:
