I received an email from Fizz saying "Welcome to the USA" but I was never in the USA. I was vacationing near Gananoque Ontario in the 1000 Islands area which is very close to U.S. border but I was never in the USA. On top of that the US border is closed due to Covid19 so couldn't even have gone to the USA if I had wanted to. I hope I do not get charged for texting if Fizz connected my cell phone to a U.S. cell tower just because I was in a town in Ontario Canada near the American border?

It sometimes happens when you are close to the border. It won’t affect your monthly payment though, don’t worry8

That’s good to know. With my old provider we would have been charged with roaming. Thanks for asking this question.2
