Hi Stefano,
If you are travelling several months abroad, Fizz recommends purchasing a local SIM card. This will give you access to better rates on data. Helpful tip: use messaging apps (whatsApp, Messenger...) to stay in touch on the road instead of calling and texting.

Normally Fizz customers can buy travel add-ons for use abroad, but I do not know if Fizz has any restrictions regarding their continual use for 8 months.
For Belgium, you have add-ons for data only (250mb, 500mb or 1gb).
And you have the pay-as-you-go option:
- Data: $0.12 / MB
- Texts: $0.10 / text
Note that calling while in Belgium is not available with your Fizz SIM card.
If you have specific questions, they will be best answered by Fizz customer service.
You can contact Fizz support by chat, from 8 AM to 9 PM everyday:
1- Connect to your Fizz account by clicking « Login » in the top right corner at fizz.ca
2- Click on this link: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-travelling-outside-my-coverage-zone-what-are-my-roaming-options
3- The green chat bubble should appear after a few seconds in the bottom right corner.
Stay safe and enjoy your trip abroad!6 -
You can only buy addon for the data and for the SMS, you cannot use the phone for call except if you are using a voip software.
In my opinion you are better off to take a local SIM card, and reduce the plan at the minimum, no data, non SMS and only unlimited calls in this way you can listen the voicemail and keep the number you can transfer the call to them fongo app (which is free if installed in Canada)7 -
Thanks for the info Mike8

stefano,
Mike's suggestion to keep your Fizz plan at minimum when you will be in Belgium and use a local sim card during your stay is a good solution for needs.5 -
The best option is to buy a SIM card once you are in Belgium. Then you can get a plan that is offered over there. Yes, you'll have a new number while you're in Belgium, but the plans in Europe are always better deals (we are way overcharged here in Quebec). Belgium is awesome, have a good time!6
