Is my modem compatible with your end?
Hello,
I have a Thomson dcm475 docsis 3.0 cable modem
https://www.amazon.ca/Thomson-DCM475-DOCSIS-Cable-Modem/dp/B004MYYVDM which I'd like to use.
https://www.speedguide.net/routers/technicolor-thomson-dcm475-docsis-30-cable-modem-1303
Behind the modem I plan to use a wifi router with linux on board, so that I can manage my traffic and security.
I'd like to use only my equipment, not the ones provided by Fizz.
Is it possible? If so, how can I prevent Fizz from delivering me a modem, where is that option in my profile?
p.s. I just started to investigate Fizz services.
Thank you

I don't think you can use your own modem for Fizz internet service. However, you can setup the Fizz modem as bridge mode pass thru and then use your own router behind as planned. Overall, Fizz internet service is quite stable. I'm getting exactly the speed I paid for. If you have decided to sign up with Fizz and don't have a referral 35$ discount code, you can use mine: 8FEN46

Hi Ivan,
All Fizz internet plans do include the Fizz modem rental and unlimited usage.

You will not be able to use your modem for Fizz internet. You can opt to use your own router with the Fizz modem: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-can-i-use-my-own-wi-fi-router-fizz
I have been using Fizz internet for over 1 year and I am happy with my plan. Previously I was with E-Box. If you plan to switch provider, you can keep your current internet plan active and cancel it only when your Fizz internet has been installed.
If you are a new Fizz customer, do not forget to use a referral code in order to receive $35 up to June 15 (it's $25 after June 15).

If I decide to use Fizz router-modem in bridge mode do I pay any fees to rent it?
Thanks3 -
Nope. The plan fees listed on Fizz website are all inclusive, including the modem rental.
Besides taxes, the only extra fee for internet plan is one-time $30 for VIP installation.
By default, you can connect the modem yourself at extra cost to you.2 -
Hi Ivan! Thanks for your great question!
No you can't use your own modem. The mac address is registered in Fizz Database, so you need to use the fizz modem or you won't get access to your ISP.
It's been a pleasure to assist you today! Have a great day!
