I notice there is still no UK addon. Also the "Pay as you go" is very expensive to the UK, say compared to France. Why?

You need to contact the support and ask them 2$ per minutes it is toooo expensive nowadays.

You can use alternatives that only use Data such as Google Hangouts, Whatsapp, etc.
