It's actually quite simple. All plans that have data included (minimum is 1GB for a month) has data that can be used in that month. At the end of the month, the data is automatically carried over to your next month. Nothing to do on your behalf.
The data from the first month will eventually expire after 90 days. So if not used, it will expire at the end of your third cycle.
During that time, your monthly plan will still add any new data you have subscribed to. The oldest data will be consumed first.
So if you have 2 GB plan in January. You used 500 MB. In February, your account will have 1.5 GB (from Jan) + 2 GB (current plan). In Feb, if you used 400 MB, then in March you will have 1.1 GB (from Jan) + 2 GB (from Feb) + 2 GB (March plan).
Wait till you learn about data gifting :-) at any time, data you collected in your plan can be given to any Fizz mobile user. They can also gift to you. So after those 90 days, if you have 500 MB that will expire, you can give it to someone. Now and again, people write notes saying they have some data to give!

On top of that, you can change your plan every cycle if you want, if you need more or less Go. Also, as André already said, you can reveive Go as gift from other Fizz members.
