Can I receive data if I have no data in my plan but because of upgrades I now have data?

no, you need a data plan

You can send a data gift to:
    • Any Fizz customer who is findable in Contacts and has a data plan
    • A complete stranger, as long as they are findable and have a Fizz data plan
You cannot send a data gift to:
    • People who are not Fizz members
    • Fizz members with no data plan
    • Fizz members who have designated themselves incognito

You need the plan to have the upgrade applied to it. For example, you may notice you also have a $1 rebate under your internet upgrades. Well, if you don't have internet with Fizz, that is useless. Similarly, if you have data upgrades but no data with your Fizz plan, then it is useless as well.

You must have data as part of your plan to receive gifted data. No other way around it, perks and upgrades do not count.

The answer is no you cannot.

You will find confirmation here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-is-data-gifting-and-how-does-it-work

Who can I send a gift to?
You can send a data gift to:
    • Any Fizz customer who is findable in Contacts and has a data plan
    • A complete stranger, as long as they are findable and have a Fizz data plan
You cannot send a data gift to:
    • People who are not Fizz members
    • Fizz members with no data plan
    • Fizz members who have designated themselves incognito

Buying an Add-on or applying a perk or an upgrade allow you to add extra data to your plan, but that won’t give you the ability to gift or receive data. To gift or receive data, your plan must include data from the get-go.
