I usually do 1 or 2 trips to the US every year and I am looking for a service that I can activate 1 month here and there and not have it active\have to pay for the rest of the year.
Can I do this with Fizz? Have it active one month and then the following month stop all service and maybe 4 months later re-activate it.

No you need to pay for a plan.
The basic plan to keep your number (with no services included) is about $7 monthly.

Gotcha. So it would be cheaper to have it for 1 month, then unsubscribe\cancel the account. Then later on, order a new SIM card and have a new account\plan for 1 month. Rince, repeat.
I don't care about the phone number associated to it.
I found details on unsubscribing: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/unsubscribe
It refers to a 15 day trial period, I haven't seen that advertised anywhere while poking around to create a plan. Is it still a thing or was that just part of the beta?6
