You have an iphone, you need to disassociate the imessage

If you have iMessage enabled on your phone, you need to have wifi or data enabled in order to send SMS.
iMessage is a feature of Apple.
If you want to send regular SMS without using wifi or data, you should disable iMessage option on your phone and then restart your phone.
