The tech is comming to test the cable and bring your the modem, is not going to install the modem. Only if you have the VIP is going to configure it.

Also the modem is very easy to setup just make sure before you let the technician leave the light on the modem are functioning properly otherwise if there are issues you will need to schedule and other technician
