Double NAT error?

I am trying to bridge my modem so that my Airport Extreme assigns IP addresses. I am currently receiving a Double NAT error. I have tried IP Passthrough but I no longer have connectivity if I do so and have to hard reset the modem. How do I make my router the primary access point and resolve the Double NAT error?
