I just got home internet installed but it is running very slowly. I should be getting 30 MB but I'm getting around 7 MB right now with wifi . When it's connected by wire to the modem I am getting the full 30mb. Can someone share their Wi-Fi settings like bandwidth, Channel, etc.
The modem is in the next room so don't get why the signal is so poor.

Which app do you use to measure the speed?4

I'm using speed test.net4

Turn off Band steering in the 5ghz setting to make your 5ghz WiFi visible on your devices and use it instead of the 2.4ghz.
---
5ghz has more speed and has less interference but less range than 2.4ghz.
If the 5ghz doesn't reach your devices, you can try to set the 2.4ghz to 40mhz instead of 20mhz but than can cause interferences if your neighborhood has a lot of routers nearby.
---
You can also manually choose a channel for your bands. For 2.4ghz you should use either channel 1, 6 or 11 and for 5ghz you can use any between 36-48 and 149-165
---
You can use an app like Wifi Analyzer on your phone to check which channel is the less busy around your home.8 -

Like @Julien said install and use the app Wifi Analyzer to help you find the best channel for your wifi setting. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en_CA
But the wifi from the Fizz's modem is not that great in speed. If you want a consistent fast speed wifi, as fast as wired, maybe consider getting a Wifi Mesh Network system. Personally I'm using it and the wifi speed is great, as fast as wire connected. Here's some info, if interested.

I'm using the TP-Link Deco M5 Wifi system, signal is strong and speed is consistent everywhere in the house, from basement to 2nd floor.2
