I do not believe that they will start to charge you, however, in the contact you have a point where they say that they can change the price whenever they want, giving you 30 days notice.11

Rental should be free until you cancel your plan. If you cancel you must return the modem before 15 days or else you have to pay 150$ according to the service agreement.

The monthly prices for the plans are not fixed though, they can change the price without notifying us. From the legal notes on the plans page: "Offer and rates are subject to change without notice."

Last month they lowered the monthly price and they did notify us by email but it's not guaranteed that they will contact us again if they raise the price..!10 -
Rental is free and forever. The modem/router unit works extremely well. I have reception on all 3 floors of a 2000sqft house8

Nothing is forever. They can change whatever they want. It's in the agreement you accepted when you joined. It's unlikely they will start charging extra for the modem in the near future, that would make them noncompetitive. If they do decide at some point to change that, as noted, they do have to give you 30 days notice.9

For now rental is free. They could change that at anytime though, so that's something to look out for.9

@Ken, In life some items are free when they wish to keep customers. Fizz won’t charge, since if they do they will lose customers. I hade Vidéotron internet for over 8 years and they never charged for the modem...9
